July 23, 2010

Serbia

Ruling Pensioner Party (PUPS) MP group chief Momo Čolaković says all pensioners with income up to RSD 15,000 (some EUR 140) "will receive aid in September".

This aid will come in the shape of RSD 5,000 (EUR 48) one-time bonuses.

In an interview for the national broadcaster RTS, Čolaković said that the total amount of money from the budget spent in this way will reach RSD 2bn (EUR 19mn).

According to him, RSD 5,000 will be allocated to each of the approximately 400,000 most vulnerable pensioners in Serbia.

Asked about the changes to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, he said that the government prepared a draft law and forwarded it to the parliament. He also expressed hope that the bill will be in parliament on October 1.
